A taskforce has been established, and joint operations commenced with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s initiation to aid the people and respond to devastation due to torrential rain expected to hit the nation in the coming days.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Police Service (MPS) and National Disaster management Authority (NDMA) would be leading this joint operation which has commenced across the nation today.
The first meeting of the taskforce was attended by Minister of Defence, Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon, Minister of State for Defence, Aishath Safoora, Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy, Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau, Vice Chief of Defence Force Brigadier General Ahmed Ghiyas, Chief Executive of NDMA Hisan Hassan and senior officials from stakeholder authorities.
