As one of the main defence sector pledges of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to develop Maldives military and enhance the capacity of MNDF, the land reclamation, shore protection and harbor upgrading of MNDF military facility K. Girifushi has officially begun.
The Minister of Defence and National Service, Hon. Hassan Rasheed officially inaugurated the defence sector mega development project.
The project includes reclamation of 13.3 hectares of land, construction of quay walls, upgrading of two harbour areas and the development of a 300-meter-long Small Arms Range.
Upon completion of K. Girifushi development project, the island will also house the main training facility of Maldives National Service. The National Service program is currently conducted at Lh. Maafilaafushi as part of a key initiative of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, aimed at nurturing a generation of productive and responsible youth.
