Following the oath-taking and firearms presentation ceremony for the graduates of the 72nd and 73rd batches of the MNDF Basic Training Course, President Dr Muizzu visited the Girifushi land reclamation site to observe the progress of the ongoing project.

A key component of the President's strategic vision to modernise the military and expand training infrastructure, the project encompasses land reclamation, coastal protection and harbour upgrading works, and is aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of MNDF.

The project includes reclamation of 13.3 hectares of land, construction of quay walls, upgrading of two harbour areas and the development of a 300-meter-long Small Arms Range.

Upon completion of K. Girifushi development project, the island will also house the main training facility of Maldives National Service.
The National Service program is currently conducted in Lh. Maafilaafushi as part of a key initiative of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, aimed at nurturing a generation of productive and responsible youth.
